Attorney, Michelle R. Fernandez graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and earned her Juris Doctorate Degree from Wayne State University School of Law.
During her time at Wayne State University Law School, Attorney Fernandez was active in OUTlaws, an on campus organization that strives to create a safe environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) students, as well as, to bring LGBT issues to the attention of students and faculty. As President of OUTlaws, Attorney Fernandez oversaw the organization’s advocacy and social programming, as well as, education and collaboration. Attorney Fernandez interned for the Triangle Foundation in Detroit, Michigan’s leading LGBT organization before merging with Equality Michigan.
Prior to joining the firm, Attorney Fernandez practiced Family Law while with the Men’s Divorce Law Firm and she was a Certified Domestic Violence Advocate for Help Now of Osceola, Inc. where she served as a liaison between the Florida Department of Children & Families and Help Now Osceola. She provided legal advocacy, as well as, support advocacy for domestic violence victims during injunction hearings, mediations, and dependency court.
Attorney Fernandez’ diverse experience shows through in her ability to analyze each client’s specific situation and find practical approaches to resolve their individual legal issues. Throughout her career, she has earned the respect of her clients, as well as, the respect of the other legal professionals with whom she interacts on a daily basis due to her commitment to advocate for her clients.
